Week 11 Devlog: Presentation and Graphics


Graphics and Presentation

Wraiths Revenge has a pixel art style for its graphics, with most sprites being about 64X64 pixels

New Monster and Adventurer

Scythe Demone, an enormous beast capable of cutting down waves of peasants:

Heavy Metal Wizod, a wizard who controls metal do build himself a giant deadly suit of armour:



The dungeon itself is quite dark, lit only with a few torches, or the light from a skeletonys fireballs.


The lights in the dungeon flicker, with their light growing and shrinking, and the player can place more torches throughout the dungeon to make the enemies easier to see if needed.


The Main menu of the game features the same pixel art style and more flickering lights.

New Attacks

2 New magic attacks have been added for the player, fireball and lightning attacks.


These attacks will drain the wraiths soul power, which is the purple bar at the bottom left, this soul power slowly regenerates over time, and the player can create pedestals inside the dungeon which will boost the rate at which soul power regenerates.

Plans

I plan to create a bloody, wounded version of each sprite to switch to when that thing gets below half health, like here with chadventurer:


Implementation

The lights in Wraiths Revenge are made using the unity universal render pipelines 2D lights, and made to flicker using a script that changes the intensity of the lights randomly over time :)

very very cool, beautiful looking, i must admit though you need something to explain how the magic stuff/floor tile things works

I Think I will add a help screen to the game that shows each of the enemies, monsters, tiles and spells and a bit about how to use them :)

the visuals are so pretty but they are extremely dark as well, it's a bit hard to see if you have any glare on your computer screen at all, i suspect that if you're a vampire working on it at night then you might not have noticed this

Added a settings screen to be able to change the global brightness of the game :)
